BASIC Provider & Instructor Courses
BASIC Provider Course
The BASIC course is primarily designed as an introduction to Intensive Care for doctors coming to work in the ICU for the first time, but has also proved popular with critical care nurses, Emergency department doctors and other doctors who have responsibility for severely ill patients.
The course is run over two days and consists of brief clinically-based lectures, small group skill stations, e-learning and pre- and post-course tests. A course manual will also be provided. It covers essential and fundamental aspects of Intensive Care, including: airway management, CPR, acute respiratory failure, mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic monitoring, diagnosis and management of shock, trauma, and severe sepsis, transport of the critically ill and acid base disturbances.
Participants are expected to read the course manual and have completed the online pre-course MCQ test prior to attending the course.
Lunch and refreshments are provided during the course, as well as, a course dinner at one of Bendigo's finest eateries.
Participants are strictly limited to 24 (12 medical, 12 nursing)
