Unit orientation arrangements
The Intensive Care Unit is located on the Bendigo Hospital Campus on Level 2 East Wing.
Please report to the Unit on your first day. You will be advised via email who to report to and at what time.

Education opportunities available during the term
The ICU teaching is a mixture of didactic teaching, journal review, simulation and case presentation. It is led by the ICU registrar with ICU consultant facilitation.

- Daily ward/teaching rounds
- ICU preadmission clinic Tuesday weekly 1345 - 1700
- Hospital HMO education sessions Wednesday monthly 14.00 - 16.00 (currently suspended due to COVID)
- ICU Morbid & Mortality meeting Tuesday weekly 13:35 – 14:30
- ICU registrar teaching Wednesday weekly –12:00 – 17:00
- Audits/ Quality Assurance activities

Learning objectives for the term
- Assessment, resuscitation, and early management of critically ill ICU patients.
- Writing focused ICU notes
- Learning new skills like Arterial line/CVC line/Airway
- Presentation Skills
- Basic Ventilation
- Basic Cardiac output monitoring,
- Basic knowledge of renal support (CRRT)
- Basic knowledge of Antibiotics pharmacology
- Basic understanding of Nutritional Support
- Standard ICU care provision (FASTHUGS)
