Procedures & Skills Competency Assessments - DOPs and WCAs
Prior to undertaking any procedures unsupervised, you need to be “credentialled” by one of the Intensivists or have College documentation of a previous successful assessment of your ability.
We encourage all trainees to keep a log book of procedures. For junior doctors registered with a college, please use the documents required by your college for assessment purposes. Please send a copy of completed forms to Emma Broadfield. Once a registrar is deemed competent to undertake an unsupervised procedure, they can then teach and supervise the residents in a similar manner. The number of completed procedures required to be deemed 'competent' is addressed at a case-by-case basis depending on the performance of the junior doctor.
Bendigo Health ICU DOPS form for junior doctors not registered with a college:
Bendigo Health Direct Observation of Clinical Skills Form (DOPS)
For CICM trainees:
Workplace competency assessments
Observed clinical encounters
For ANZCA trainees:
Direct Observation of Procedural Skills Form
For ACEM trainees:
Direct Observation of Procedural Skills Form
