Tracheostomy Management in Bendigo Health

The Bendigo Tracheostomy Team is a multidisciplinary team comprising of an ICU/Respiratory consultant, ENT consultant (when available), ICU Liaison Nurse, Speech Pathologist, Respiratory Physiotherapist, HARP Chronic Respiratory Disease Nurse Practitioner and ward nurse/ANUM.

The ICU Liaison Nurse is responsible for coordination of the Tracheostomy Team.  All patients admitted to Bendigo Health, including ICU, should be referred to the Tracheostomy Team via the ICU Liaison Nurse on Patient Flow Manager.  All patients with a tracheostomy in situ, whether temporary or permanent, will be reviewed by the multidisciplinary team on a weekly basis.  The individual members of the team are also available for advice and education, and are happy to be contacted.

There are a number of guidelines and policies relating to tracheostomy care available on PROMPT.
