- Clinical Education time is protected from clinical service provision and is resourced and paid for by the ICU.
- On-site Training time for those not on leave or night-shift
- Off-Site Training time is allocated to ensure full quota of training time per month
- ICU registrars who are not rostered to leave or night shift are expected to come.
- The online roster determines those presenting and responsible for the sessions.
- The program timetable is found on the ICU Hub
- Repeated non-attendance will potentially result in education payment withheld or remediation with the Supervisors of Training.
- Hospital HMO teaching (All hospital areas)
- Last Wednesday of month, 1400-1600.
- 2020 coordinator – Director of Clinical Training (hospital)
- Protected teaching time of 2 hours
- Will involve clinical simulation and clinical tutorials
- ICU does the teaching once per year
- Deteriorating patient workshop (2020)
- HMO will be released from clinical service for 2 hours and covered by local departmental staff
- Clinical-floor consultant will take over the phone during this 2 hours on this Wednesday

- Preparation is led by allocated registrars
- Supported by a Clinical Support Time consultant
- Taught by Consultants and Registrars
- incorporating:
- DOPS forms for Echo/US training and competency assessments done on bedside as individual basis.
- Journal Club or Research Presentations.
- Themed topic each week.
- Consultant/Fellow-supervised ICU registrar teaching/discussion and presentation.
- ‘Hot cases’ (clinical & bedside) during the Clinical Grand Round period.
- Data interpretation or equipment/ ‘Labs and ‘Lytes’ led by duty HMO in ICU.
- Viva voce practice for part 1 & 2 candidates (internal and external)
- Via Hot Case Central
- Radiology conference session.
- Airway hands-on training in operating theatre.
- Team skills training (simulation)
- ALS simulation.
- Crucial conversations workshop.
- Paediatric study day for doctors.
